On April 4, the Head of Parliament Ararat Mirzoyan received the delegation headed by Shen Yueyue, Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the People’s Republic of China (PRC).

Welcoming the guests in the National Assembly, Ararat Mirzoyan has highly assessed the current level of the Armenian-Chinese relations noting that China is one of the most important partners of Armenia, and the cooperation is of stable developing character in the most different spheres.

“Our country observes the relations with China as one of the foreign political priorities,” the Head of the Parliament noted. In this context he underlined the role of the inter-parliamentary relations, the activity of the Parliamentary Friendship Groups and the mutual visits. Ararat Mirzoyan has evaluated the bilateral cooperation, where the delegates of Armenia and the PRC often have mutually agreed activities.

Presenting the approach of the Armenian side of Nagorno Karabakh problem settlement, the Head of the Parliament highly appreciated the balanced position adopted by China and the support directed to the peaceful settlement of the problem. According to him, Armenia in its turn backs and will continue to be the supporter to the principle ‘One China.’

Talking about the international and regional programmes undertaken by the PRC, the Head of the legislative body, particularly ‘Great Silk Road,’ and ‘One Belt, One Road’ initiatives, has noted that Armenia has welcomed and is ready to take part in the works.

Ararat Mirzoyan congratulated the people of China on the occasion of the 70^th anniversary of the PRC formation and the 40^th anniversary of the launch of the declared reforms and liberalisation policy by Deng Xiaoping.

Expressing her gratitude Ararat Mirzoyan for the reception, Shen Yueyue congratulated him on being elected NA Speaker, also conveying the best wishes of the colleagues of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the People’s Republic of China.

According to the Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee, Armenia is the important partner of China in the CIS Region, and her country is ready to deepen the cooperation on the international political platforms and in the economic and humanitarian spheres. “Our bilateral relations develop in a stable way, and they are of progressive character,” Shen Yueyue said.

In terms of expansion of bilateral ties she has underlined the importance of the inter-parliamentary cooperation, noting that there is still work to be done in upgrading the legal field promoting the deepening of the Armenian-Chinese relations and the boosting of practical ties.

The sides discussed a wide scope of the Armenian-Chinese cooperation: touched upon the activation of the parliamentary diplomacy, the expansion of the economic and investment programmes and the strengthening of the ties in the humanitarian sphere. In this context the educational and cultural programmes, which the Chinese side implements in Armenia, were valued, and they expressed readiness for further increasing that format.

Both sides recorded the potential existing in the spheres of construction and tourism. In this aspect the progress of the provision of the direct air communication and the liberalisation of the entry visas was emphasized. An agreement was reached to undertake steps for the practical implementation of the discussed issues in different spheres.
