On June 26, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Defense and Security Andranik Kocharyan met with the representatives of the CoE delegation.
Tigran Karapetyan, Head of Eastern Partnership and Russian Federation Unit Human Rights Natural Implementation Division of the Council of Europe (CoE) talked about the programme Human Rights and Women in the Armed Forces of Armenia to be implemented by the structure. The goal of the latter is to promote the strengthening of human rights in the armed forces, particularly the female officers' rights, guaranteeing equal conditions of service for women and encouraging them to fight for positive changes. It has noted that the programme will also promote the elaboration of the national legislation and the inner code of laws for providing conformity to the standards of the Council of Europe, as well as will have objective to guarantee the gender equality.
Andranik Kocharyan highlighted the programmes being implemented by the organization, assuring him that they would definitely be called into life.
The Committee Chair informed about the platform to be created in the near future for elaborating the legislative initiatives, where representatives and international experts of the NGOs would be engaged.
