Delegation Led by Ararat Mirzoyan Meets with the Archbishop of Cyprus Chrysostomos II

On July 6, the President of the National Assembly Ararat Mirzoyan met with the Archbishop of Cyprus Chrysostomos II in the frameworks of his visit to the Republic of Cyprus.

Welcoming the delegation led by Ararat Mirzoyan, the Archbishop of Cyprus Chrysostomos II has noted that the Armenian and the Cypriot brotherly peoples have built together firm friendship of the centuries-old rich history, which stems from the mutual faithfulness to the human common values. The two peoples are connected with the similar value of systems, common history and culture.

Ararat Mirzoyan highlighted the role of the churches as a structure preserving and developing the Christian values in the Armenian and the Cypriot peoples’ life, underlining that our friendly peoples have supported each other through many centuries and in crucial moments, sharing the grief and joy, fighting for the restoration and preservation of the all-human rights and values. Our peoples bear the unscarred wound of the genocide and continue fighting for the restoration of the historical justice.

Within the frameworks of the visit the President of the National Assembly Ararat Mirzoyan also visited Melkonian Educational Institute, got acquainted with the current situation of the educational complex and talked with the participants of the protest meeting organized by the former graduates in the yard of the educational complex. The President of the National Assembly listened to their concerns on the further destiny of the Educational Institute and promised to more deeply get familiarized with the details of the problem.

Ararat Mirzoyan also visited Nareg Armenian School of Nicosia, where he met with the representatives of the Armenian community, delivered a speech and answered the attendees’ questions.
