On July 8, an extraordinary sitting of the RA NA Standing Committee on Territorial Administration, Local Self-Government, Agriculture and Environment moderated by the Deputy Chair Sergey Bagratyan was held.

The Committee in the first reading debated and endorsed the two legislatives authored by the RA Government, which would be debated during the extraordinary session of the National Assembly on July 9.

The legislative package on Amending the RA Criminal Code, on Amending the RA Code on Administrative Infringements and on Amending the RA Law on Tariffs of Compensation of the Damage Caused to the Fauna and Flora Because of Environmental Infringements designs to make stricter the punitive measures established for illegal wood cutting and poaching.

The draft law on Making Amendment and Addendum to the RA Law on the Structure and Activity of the Government proposes to reserve the coordination of the regime and special observations of the hydro meteorological phenomena reserved to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the implementation of the studies and forecasts and the works of active influence on atmospheric phenomena to the RA Ministry of Environment.

This amendment has a goal to make more effective the work of the Government.
