On October 3, the Head of the RA NA Armenia-U.S. Friendship Group Lilit Makunts, the Group members Gayane Abrahamyan, Hamazasp Danielyan, Babken Tunyan, Heriknaz Tigranyan, Taron Simonyan, Hovhannes Hovhannisyan and Sargis Khandanyan met with the Member of the U.S. House of Representatives, the Co-Chair of the Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues Frank Pallone.

The guest presented his impressions about the meetings held during these days and the visit to Artsakh.

The Head of the Friendship Group Lilit Makunts touched upon the priorities of the National Assembly activities and the necessity of the establishment of the parliament as a democratic institute. She also talked about the problems existing in the judicial-legal system of Armenia, the necessity of the implementation of the reforms in the police and the American colleagues’ support.

Hamazasp Danielyan referred to the steps being taken for the development of the economic development in Armenia, the programmes on the investment encouragement and the problems related to the freedom of speech.

Expressing her gratitude to Frank Pallone, Gayane Abrahamyan noted that he made a valuable investment with his activity in the rise of the Armenian Genocide recognition issue and in the works being done with Artsakh.

Speaking about the support in the cyber security sphere, the MP raised the problem regarding the ‘fake news,’ qualifying it as a step directed to the democratic developments. As Gayane Abrahamyan has assured, we’ll have effective, coordinated work in the abovementioned sphere.

Issues on the upcoming visit of the Armenian-American Parliamentary Friendship Group to the USA were also discussed at the meeting.
