On February 20, at the RA NA Standing Committee on Territorial Administration, Local Self-Government, Agriculture and Environment a working discussion on the theme The Order of Use of Lands of Agricultural Significance Deployed Along Armenian-Turkish Border, Complexities and Ways of Their Elimination.

The representatives of Ararat and Armavir Regional Municipalities noted that especially the lands of agricultural significance deployed along the Armenian-Turksih border were cultivated very little before, very little number of persons passed a specially kept territory and the pass regime in force satisfied them. According to the Head of the Agriculture and Environment Department of Ararat Regional Municipality Haykaz Terteryan, the established pass regime creates difficulties for the persons entering those territories, as accumulations and queues occur.

The guests proposed to make reforms in the relevant legislation to facilitate the villagers’ entry and work in those territories.

The MPs considered the raised item pressing and demanding quick solution.

At the end of the meeting Varazdat Karapetyan urged the representatives of the Regional Municipalities to present recommendations in written form which the Committee would discuss with the RA Government. Considering as a priority the maintenance of border security, Committee Chair expressed hope that during one month they would try to find solutions for facilitating the entry and exit of the people to the mentioned territories.
