Issues on Education Sphere Discussed

On March 6, the deputies of the RA NA Bright Armenia Faction Karen Simonyan and Anna Kostanyan met with the chancellors and representatives of the non state higher educational institutions to discuss the problems of the education sphere.

Karen Simonyan informed that the RA draft law on Higher Education and Science had already been sent to the Ministry of Justice and would be discussed in the parliament during this session. He has also noted that the bill has repeatedly been discussed and parliamentary hearings have been held, however, according to the MP, there are controversial provisions in the draft law which is necessary to review.

In the opinion of the representatives of the non state higher educational institutions systemized approaches are necessary for the solution of the problems.

The guests highly assessed the article of the bill, according to which, the examination of the Armenian Language subject is compulsory for the RA citizens to enter the higher educational institution by any educational programme of the bachelor’s degree. According to them, it is necessary to raise the level of teaching of the subject at schools.

Summing up the meeting the deputies of the RA NA Bright Armenia Faction expressed hope that in the phase of the draft law debate recommendations on the raised issues would be presented to the government.
