On September 30, the RA NA Standing Committee on Defense and Security convened a regular sitting. Having on the agenda two legislative initiatives. Before turning to the discussion the attendees honoured the memory of the brave sons who died for the defense of the Motherland in one-minute silence.

The RA Deputy Minister of Defense Gabriel Balayan has presented for debate in the first reading the draft law on Making Addendum to the Law on Defense, by which the competence of approving the mobilization plan of the republic’s economy is proposed also to include in the series of the powers of the Government in the sphere of defense, which is today more topical conditioned by the military actions unleashed by Azerbaijan and the martial law declared in the RA.

The Government considered the adoption of the draft law urgent: the Deputy Minister has informed that the mobilization plan of the republic’s economy has already been worked out and agreed with the RA Ministry of Economy. The Committee endorsed the legislative initiative.

The Deputy Head of the RA Police Ara Fidanyan presented the package of the draft laws on Making Addenda and Amendments to the RA Code and on Making Amendments and Addenda to the RA Code on Administrative Offences. The debated package was endorsed in the first reading.

The debated draft laws will be included in the draft law of the RA NA upcoming regular sittings’ agenda.
