NA Standing Committee to Debate Draft Law on Higher Education and Science in Future

On January 13, at the regular sitting of the RA NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport moderated by Mkhitar Hayrapetyan the draft law on Higher Education and Science with the legislative package authored by the Government was presented for debate in the first reading, but its debate was postponed for three weeks. The Committee Chair Mkhitar Hayrapetyan informed that an agreement was reached with the RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Vahram Dumanyan to postpone the debate of such most important draft law for revising it.

The Committee debated the draft law on Making Amendments and Addenda to the RA Law on Education authored by the Government and presented by the RA Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan for passing it in the second reading completely.

In her co-speech the Committee member Sofia Hovsepyan noted that the author of the draft law accepted the MPs’ proposals, the disagreements had been eliminated, and the draft law was ready for completely passing it.

The Committee endorsed the draft law, and it would be included in the draft law of the agenda of the NA coming regular sittings.

The debated other item was of organizational character: by the decision of the Committee on January 29, at 11:00, parliamentary hearings on the theme ‘The Science as a Pillar of Security and Development’ would be held.
