On February 4, the Chair of the RA NA Regional and Eurasian Integration Mikayel Melkumyan met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iran to our country Abbas Badakhshan Zohouri.
Speaking about the Armenian-Azerbaijani-Turkish war and its aftermath, the Committee Chair considered the issue of the return of the Armenian prisoners of war as the most urgent problem.
According to the Ambassador, Iran had always claimed that all the issues should be solved through dialogue and negotiations.
The sides have documented that though the political relations are at high level between the two countries, but there is unused potential in the economic sphere, it is necessary to work out a road map, to establish a distinct schedule and to move forward step by step.
Melkumyan has underlined that Iran is the fifth trading partner of Armenia, in 2020 the trade turnover has been about 400mln USD which, according to the interlocutors, it is necessary to increase that during the coming few years, also promoting the creation of new jobs.
