The debate of the draft law on Making Addendum to the RA law on Military Service and Serviceman’s Status was on the agenda of March 15 sitting of the NA Standing Committee on Defense and Security.

It was proposed by the bill authored by the Bright Armenia Faction to provide an opportunity to the citizens studying with professional programme and subject to compulsory military service continuing and ending their education after turning 19.

The RA Deputy Minister of Defense Arman Sargsyan has noted that the government does not share the observation of primary education and secondary professional education programmes on the same platform.

According to the co-rapporteur Kristine Poghosyan the problem exists, and it shall be solved.

The key rapporteur, taking into consideration the current situation, proposed to give an opportunity to end the education of students studying in their last year before the military service.

The proposal was acceptable for the representative of the government.

The revised version of the draft law was endorsed.
