NA President’s Condolence Letter on Death of President of Carnegie Corporation, Co-Founder of Aurora Initiative Vartan Gregorian
1 / 1

I learnt with deep grief on passing away of the President of Carnegie Corporation, the Co-Founder of Aurora Initiative Vartan Gregorian. As he has described himself: “From Tabriz, Iran, to New York City, by way of Lebanon, California, Texas, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and numerous other places in between. A poor boy, yearning for knowledge, who -- I hope! -- became an educated man now at the helm of an organization dedicated to disseminating knowledge to all the world. A dreamer who learned to take action. A wandering Armenian who ended up on the society pages of The New York Times.”

He will serve as an example for our generations, as he can become not only one of the most outstanding global Armenians through hard working and knowledge, but also go out of the borders of the Armenian environment and be one of the most influential intellectuals of our times.

Vartan Gregorian’s scientific, philanthropic, public activities has left a deep trace in the lives of many of us. Rest in peace “a genius obtaining means,” as very accurately has characterized Financial Times.
