Alen Simonyan Receives Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Syria to Armenia

On October 12, the RA NA President Alen Simonyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Arabic Republic of Syria to Armenia Mohammed Haj Ibrahim.

The RA NA President highlighted the development of the inter-parliamentary in strengthening the mutually beneficial cooperation, assuring the Ambassador that the National Assembly would continue the effective cooperation with the friendly Syria. Underlining the key importance of the parliamentary diplomacy in the development of the bilateral ties, the NA President expressed conviction that Armenia-Syria Parliamentary Friendship Group to be formed in the near future would give a new impetus for deepening the relations.

Mohammed Haj Ibrahim also touched upon the undertaking of steps aimed at more deepening of the parliamentary relations. Ahead of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the two countries. The Ambassador has affirmed that the Syrian Armenians are the inseparable part of the society of Syria, and they have great role in the public-political life of the country. In his turn Alen Simonyan underscored that the Syrian Armenians brought new and beautiful culture to Armenia and Artsakh, as the lack of it was felt among us.

The sides referred to the destabilizing role of Turkey in the region. In this connection the Ambassador in his turn considered inadmissible and rejected the involvement of the mercenaries and terrorists in the 44-day war.

The RA NA President expressed readiness to support calling into life any initiative aimed at the interests of the friendly peoples.
