On December 27, at the extraordinary sitting, pursuant to Article 145 of the constitutional law the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly, the RA NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport debated the item of the nomination of the candidates for the vacancies of the members of the RA Commission on Television and Radio. The NA Civil Contract Faction nominated the candidacies of Artur Manukyan and Hakob Hakobyan, and the Armenia Faction nominated Manvel Badalyan’s candidacy.

Pursuant to Article 145 of the constitutional law the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly, at the NA sitting the members of the RA Commission on Television and Radio are elected by secret ballot, at least by the three fifth of the deputies’ total number of votes.

The member of the Faction presented Manvel Badalyan’s working path and biography. Manvel Badalyan is an economist by profession, he has been RA NA deputy, led the Civil Service Council for many years, from 2019 until now is the President of the NGO Center for the Protection of the Value System of Public Service. Manvel Badalyan also gives lectures in the Public Administration Academy.

Manvel Badalyan has noted how he sees his work in that Commission, has touched upon the problems of the sphere, which needs solution. Some of the Committee members have not definitely accepted Manvel Badalyan’s candidacy, taking into consideration the fact of not having any relation with the sphere. The Committee voted against the nomination of Manvel Badalyan’s candidacy.

The Committee debated the item of the candidacy of Hakob Hakobyan (Hakob Movses) by the nomination of the NA Civil Contract Faction. The deputy Gurgen Arsenyan has presented the candidate’s working path and biography, noting that he is a philologist by profession, translator, poet. He has been a teacher, has been a literary worker, editor and the RA Minister of Culture. Hakob Hakobyan touched upon the issues needing reform and the great influence of the television on the public. The Committee voted for Hakob Hakobyan’s candidacy.

The deputy of the NA Civil Contract Faction Taguhi Ghazaryan presented the working path and biography of the third presented the working path and biography of the third candidate Artur Manukyan. Artur Manukyan is a film and stage director, a musician, artist of theatre and cinema. He has authored educational manuals in the song art sphere, he has been RA NA deputy. The candidate considered sufficient his work experience for working in the Commission on Television and Radio.
