The Head of the Friendship Group Armenia-Czech Republic Artur Hovhannisyan and the Deputy Chair of the Standing Committee on European Integration Meri Galstyan had a number of meetings with their Czech colleagues within the framework of the three-day visit.
They particularly, met with the Vice President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament Olga Richterová, presented the issues on the region and the Nagorno Karabakh (NK) conflict, underlining the importance of our colleagues’ practical support in solving the urgent humanitarian problems.
The Armenian parliamentarians had a meeting with the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic Marek Ženíšek, discussed the priorities on the bilateral relations and the region, reaffirmed the RA position on the peaceful settlement of the NK conflict and the readiness of continuing the efforts aimed at the long-term stability in the region.
At the meeting with the Chairperson of the Friendship Group Czech Republic-Armenia, the Head of the Civil Democratic Faction being ruling majority in the Chamber of Deputies Marek Benda and the members of the Friendship Group a reference was made to further deepen the possibilities and directions of cooperation between the two parliaments, issues on foreign policy were discussed. The NA deputies underlined the importance of the agendas of peace and regional security within the framework of the Presidency of the Czech Republic in the Council of the European Union.
At the end of the meeting the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Czech Republic Ashot Hovakimyan awarded Marek Benda and Jiří Kobza for their pro-Armenian activities.
Artur Hovhannisyan and Meri Galstyan also met with the Vice Chairperson of the Committee on EU Affairs of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic Jiří Čunek, presented the priorities of the relations between the European Union and Armenia, the RA achievements and the continuous efforts for the development of democracy and human rights, the procedure of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) application and the opportunities of already functional and new cooperation with the Czech Republic in that sphere.
The Armenian deputies also met with the Chairwoman of the Committee on Environment Jana Krutakova and the Vice Chairman Jiří Kobza, discussed the opportunities of deepening the cooperation in the sphere of environment, particularly, the opportunities of the study of exchange of experience and technical support in the fields of water resources, the risks of the mining management waste, sorting and processing of the household wastes.
The Committee Chairwoman expressed willingness to visit Armenia with her colleagues and the group of specialists of the sphere after setting distinct fields of cooperation in the near future.
Within the framework of the visit Artur Hovhannisyan and Meri Galstyan also took part in the reception organized in the RA Embassy in the Czech Republic, during which the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia Ashot Hovakimyan handed over state awards to a number of current and former Czech parliamentarians for the development of relations with Armenia, the protection of universal values and pro-Armenian activities, particularly for the resolutions on recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide, as well as on supporting the Armenian people during the 44-day war.
The Head of the Friendship Group Armenia-Czech Republic Artur Hovhannisyan expressed his gratitude on behalf of the RA NA to the Czech colleagues for being next to the Armenian people.
