We are a Friend of Difficult Days for Our Friends: IRI President Says at the Meeting with Alen Simonyan

The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ebrahim Raisi received the delegation led by the NA President of the Republic of Armenia.

At the meeting the talk was held on Armenia-Iran multilateral friendship, which is anchored on the centuries-old friendship, historical and cultural close relations between the two peoples.

Outlining the ways of the cooperation boosting, the sides expressed readiness to continue the dialogue with joint efforts and to more enrich the agenda of bilateral cooperation.

The President Raisi attached importance to the cooperation of the legislative bodies in strengthening of the current warm relations between Armenia and Iran.

The interlocutors referred to the bilateral economic relations and the implementation of the infrastructural joint programmes, for the development of which there are preconditions.

The Armenian side greatly emphasizes the recording of the mutual agreements in the spheres of energy and transport. “I should also note that in the context of the development of transport communications the establishment of the railway connection of the Republic of Armenia is on the series of our most important agenda items,” Alen Simonyan said.

The RA NA President presented to the President of Iran the current situation caused by the unleashed war against Artsakh by the Azerbaijani-Turkish tandem, the humanitarian problems and the issue of protection of the Armenian historical-cultural values passed under control of Azerbaijan. Alen Simonyan informed that Azerbaijan at state level destroys the valuable heritage, and Iran can serve as an example to Azerbaijan in this issue.

At the meeting the consistent efforts made by Iran in establishing peace and stability in the region were highlighted.

Thanking the IRI President for the reception, the RA NA President, concluding his speech expressed conviction that the Armenian-Iranian cooperation has a great potential of expansion, and he is ready to support the development of Armenia-Iran mutually beneficial cooperation for the benefit of two friendly peoples.

“We are a friend of difficult days for all our friends: we are led by that. On our happy days everybody can be next to everybody, but the real companionship and friendship are displayed during the hardships,” the IRI President Ebrahim Raisi noted.

The RA NA President conveyed the warm good wishes of the Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and the invitation of paying an official visit to Armenia.

Alen Simonyan also informed the President that a working group had been already created in the National Assembly on simplifying the legislation on the implementation of the joint work of Armenia-Iran agenda.

The President noted that he gave appropriate assignments to his staff for presenting baseline proposals in the establishment of further close relations with Armenia.
