On June 16, the Head of the RA NA Armenia-Iran Friendship Group Gevorg Papoyan, the members of the Group Mariam Poghosyan, Narek Babayan and Rustam Bakoyan met with the members of the IRI Majles Iran-Armenia Friendship Group.
The sides highly appreciated the friendly relations of the two states, which have a history of hundreds of years and were built on the basis of mutual trust and respect. The deputies expressed conviction that such meetings and mutual visits promote the deepening and the expansion of the Armenian-Iranian friendly relations.
The warm attitude of the authorities and the people of Iran towards the Armenian community was underlined and it was noted that the Armenians have an active role in the public, political and cultural life of the country.
A reference was made to the post-war situation, the importance of the solution of a number of humanitarian problems and the efforts aimed at the establishment of peace and stability in the region.
The issues of the development of bilateral economic relations, agriculture, energy and the expansion of cooperation in the energy and other spheres. The interlocutors stressed the establishment of the Consulate General of Iran in Kapan, as well as the need to open the Consulate General of the Republic of Armenia in Tabriz.
