Delegation Led by Head of Belgium-Armenia Friendship Group Mark Demesmaeker Visits Goris

On September 24, the Delegation led by the Head of Belgium-Armenia Friendship Group of Parliament of the Kingdom of Belgium Mark Demesmaeker that arrived in our country visited Goris.

First, the guests met with the State Minister of Artsakh Republic (AR) Artak Beglaryan, the AR Human Rights Defender Gegham Stepanyan and the Chair of the AR NA Standing Committee on Social Affairs and Health Aram Grigoryan. The officials of Artsakh presented in detail the ethnic cleansing policy being pursued by Azerbaijan, and its aim is to depopulate Artsakh from Armenians. They informed about the large-scale violations of human rights after the establishment of the ceasefire. The strictest and targeted condemnation of Azerbaijan’s pursued policy by the international community was highlighted. They voiced the issue of the Artsakh status and the security problems of the Artsakh Armenians.

In his turn Mark Demesmaeker emphasized the peaceful settlement of the problem due to diplomatic means and dialogue, but not through war and weapons.

Afterwards the Belgian parliamentarians met with the displaced persons from Artsakh and got acquainted with their problems.

At the end of the day the Armenian and Belgian MPs visited Akner community with more than 1000 residents, got familiarized with the destructions caused because of the Azerbaijani last aggression. After the 44-day war the great part of the settlements of Syunik Marz/Province became bordering.

The Head of the RA NA Friendship Group Armenia-Belgium Armen Rustamyan, the members of the Group Seyran Ohanyan, Artsvik Minasyan, Shirak Torosyan, Aleksey Sandikov, Tatdevos Avetisyan and the deputy from Syunik Marz Armen Khachatryan accompanied the guests.
