Revenues and Expenditures on European Integration Issues Debated

Two financial institutions - the European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development - should finance programmes of 55 billion 747 million in total cost in Armenia during the year 2023. The Minister of Finance Tigran Khachatryan said during the debate of the draft law on the RA State Budget for 2023 at the joint sitting of the NA Standing Committees on European Integration and on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs.

It is designed by the adjusted budget of 2020 that the financing sum performing in similar way should be 42 billion 712 million AMD. In 2021, the factual financing volum,e was 20 billion 497.8 million AMD.

“The numbers noticeably show that those support volumes gradually become of great bigger importance in the programmes being implemented by our ministries,” Tigran Khachatryan underscored.

The Deputy Foreign Minister Paruyr Hovhannisyan underlined that the activation of the political dialogue, the elimination of various consequences of the aggression unleashed against Armenia and Artsakh, first of all, the withdrawal of the Azerbaijani armed forces from the Armenian territory, the final settlement of the conflict and providing of the humanitarian support remain of priority for Armenia. The deepening of profile cooperation with the European Union and the EU all structures, the complete implementation of the commitments assumed by Armenia by legal documents, as well as the expansion of the legal-contractual field and overcoming the economic shocks are also of priority.

In 2023, the holding of the meetings of Armenia-EU statutory bodies in Armenia, the EU countries is designed. The work of the parliamentary cooperation in the accepted formats will continue. The Deputy Minister also presented other programmes.

Afterwards, the Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan informed that the foreign trade of Armenia, in general, has grown, the volume of the trade with the European Union countries has also risen. By 24.5% compared with the previous year. During the first eight months the volume of trade turnover was 572 million AMD. The export has grown by 24.5%, and import – by 44.8%.

The Minister also informed that on the previous month during the EU-Eastern Partnership Forum held in Prague the necessity of long-term monetary financing was discussed. “It is very important for us now to create a pipe, through the Armenian banks will be able to receive long-term monetary financing from the European partners, which will be directed to the development of economy in Armenia and the financing of small and medium enterprises,” Vahan Kerobyan said, presenting the procedure of the issue.
