Parliamentarians Meet with Ambassador of Sweden and Member of Swedish Parliament of Armenian Origin: Activity of Armenia-Sweden and Sweden-Armenia Friendship Groups is Unique

Sweden is a democratic country, and Armenia follows it as an example,. The activity of Armenia-Sweden and Sweden-Armenia Friendship Groups is unique. In particular, there have been two statements condemning the Azerbaijani aggression of September 13 2022: the head of Armenia-Sweden Friendship Group Hripsime Grigoryan said during the meeting held with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden to Armenia Patrik Svensson and the Member of the Swedish Parliament of Armenian origin Arin Karapet on November 7.

Hripsime Grigoryan congratulated the Ambassador and Arin Karapet on the occasion of the democratic elections held in Sweden and formation of the new Government.

She highlighted the development of the Armenian-Swedish inter-parliamentary relations, The Head of the Friendship Group underlined the necessity of the organization of the mutual visits at bilateral high level.

Patrik Svensson noted that the cooperation of two countries recorded progress. He expressed hope that the new formed Government of Sweden would continue the cooperation, carrying out a number of programmes. The Ambassador highly appreciated the democratic reforms being implemented in Armenia.

Arin Karapet thanked Hripsime Grigoryan for congratulations. The MP of Armenian origin is ready to support the rapprochement of bilateral relations cooperation for implementing joint programmes.

The Secretary of the RA NA Civil Contract Faction Artur Hovhannisyan emphasized the cooperation of two democratic states – Armenia and Sweden. Noting the democracy is a security component for Armenia, the Secretary of the Faction stressed that the establishment and recovery of democratic institutions are very important. In his opinion, the parliament can cooperate in more flexible way and directly with each other, solving numerous issues.

The deputy of the RA NA Armenia Faction Zemfira Mirzoeva presented information on the situation in Armenia and in Artsakh. The deputy considered unacceptable the Azerbaijani aggression against the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia and attached importance to the international addressed response in that issue. Zemfira Mirzoeva noted that she is the representative of the Assyrian community in Parliament of Armenia.

The Member of the Armenia-Sweden Friendship Group Arsen Torosyan highlighted the role of the European Union in ensuring the security and establishing peace in the region.

The perspectivs of the Armenian-Swedish cooperation in a number of spheres were discussed.
