Members of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Meet with Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and European Union Committee of the Senate of Poland Bogdan Klich

On November 9, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Eduard Aghajanyan, the Committee members Sargis Khandanyan, Maria Karapetyan, Aspram Krpeyan, Hayk Mamijanyan met with the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and European Union Committee of the Senate of the Republic of Poland Bogdan Klich.

Welcoming Bogdan Klich in parliament, Eduard Aghajanyan noted that this year is symbolic for two counties: it is the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Armenian-Polish diplomatic relations. He expressed with satisfaction that during these years, dynamic development of the relations was recorded.

The Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations highlighted the format of the joint sittings of the Committees on Foreign Relations of two parliaments and expressed hope that the cooperation would be continuous.

Bogdan Klich thanked his colleague for warm reception. Noting that this is his fourth visit to Armenia, he appreciated giving the opportunity of dialogue at high level.

Eduard Aghajanyan presented in detail the situation created as a consequence of the Azerbaijani aggression unleashed against the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia on September 13, touched upon a number of important humanitarian problems, which were caused because of the aggression launched by the Azerbaijani-Turkish tandem against Nagorno Karabakh and Armenia.

The Committee Chair emphasized the necessity of the immediate withdrawal of the Azerbaijani armed forces from the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia and the preservation of the unconditional ceasefire.

He noted that Armenia expects the Polish colleagues’ practical support in the efforts making for immediately returning Armenian prisoners of war to the homeland, as well as saving the Armenian historical-cultural and religious heritage on the territories of Artsakh appeared under the Azerbaijani control.

Hayk Mamijanyan informed that he returned from Nagorno Karabakh the day before. He presented to the guest his and his colleagues’ concern on the situation of Artsakh, as well as warfare statements voicing by Azerbaijan.

Bogdan Klich expressed readiness to support the peaceful settlement process of the conflict. “We expect very quick transformation of security in the region. The security architecture rapidly changes, and we, as a friendly country of Armenia, try more develop our relationship in different spheres. We have pretty experience, and we are ready to familiarize Armenia with the European tools, which will be useful,” he said.

During the meeting issues on perspectives of cooperation in a number of spheres were discussed.
