“The relations between the peoples of Armenia and France are based on centuries-old friendship and close historical and cultural ties. The role of France for Armenia is special. That country was always next to the Armenian people during the difficult period,” the Head of the Armenia Faction Seyran Ohanyan said during the meeting with the Officer for the South Caucasus Affairs of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs Nicolas Karges on November 25.
The member of the Armenia Faction Gegham Nazaryan and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to the Republic of Armenia Anne Louyot were present at the meeting.
The sides discussed the military-political situation in the region. The Armenian parliamentarians emphasized the establishment of the right to self-determination of the people of Artsakh. In this context, Seyran Ohanyan highlighted the restoration of the activities of the OSCE Minsk Group. Ideas were exchanged on the process of implementation of international observation missions in Armenia.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to the Republic of Armenia welcomed the participation of the opposition in the sittings of parliament. Seyran Ohanyan spoke about the priorities of the faction, presented their agenda of parliamentary work. According to Gegham Nazaryan, the faction considered the restoration of the army as a priority.
