1 / 8

The deputy of national minority is the real connecting link between the community and the Government: the deputy of the NA Civil Contract Faction, the Representative of the Russian community in Armenia Aleksey Sandikov said at the meeting with the students of the Faculty of International Relations of Yerevan State University (YSU).

He has touched upon the current activity of the national minority deputies of parliament, highlighted the big legislative work they do being in office, as well as stress the cooperation with different bodies of the executive power on various problems, due to which many big and small issues are solved.

Aleksey Sandikov underlined the necessity of the joint work in solving the problems preserving and developing the language, the culture of national minorities. The MP also referred to the problem of the provision of textbooks in the mother tongue to the students of Russian biased schools in Armenia and Armenian schools in the Russian Federation (RF), informed that according to the agreement reached in the near future, the Russian side will deliver about 60.000 textbooks to our country. And the Armenian educational centres functioning in the RF will be provided with Armenian textbooks.

As Aleksey Sandikov assured, on May 9 of this year two veterans of Armenia, who are more than 100 years old, will be present at the military parade victory against fascism to be taken place in the RF capital. “The Great Patriotic War is the page of history of our country, every 3rd person from Armenia took part in war, we have given more than 100 heroes, we have four marshals,” the NA deputy noted.

Answering the question of one of the students on extending the term of deployment of the Russian peacekeeping troops in Artsakh, Aleksey Sandikov stated his personal viewpoint: “As far as there is no peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the Nagorno Karabakh issue is not solved, the Russian peacekeepers should stay in Artsakh.”
