The members of the RA NA Friendship Group Armenia-USA - the Head of the Friendship Group, the Head of the NA Civil Contract Faction Hayk Konjoryan, the Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Sargis Khandanyan, the NA deputies Vahagn Aleksanyan, Hripsime Grigoryan, and Irina Gasparyan, the RA Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the USA Lilit Makunts met with the Congresswoman, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives of the US Congress Nancy Pelosi, the Co-Chair of the Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues Frank Pallone, the members of the House of Representatives Rob Menendez, Debbie Dingley and Jen Shchekovski on May 10. The former Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi fondly remembered her visit to Armenia, reaffirming their support for Armenia’s democracy, sovereignty and territorial integrity. During the meeting, the Head of Armenia-US Friendship Group Hayk Konjoryan highlighted the existing strategic dialogue between the Republic of Armenia and the United States, underlined the support of the United States to the democratic reforms implemented in Armenia. The parties mutually underscored the existing high level of inter-parliamentary cooperation and agreed to continue political consultations and mutual visits. During the meeting, the current security situation around Armenia, the illegal blockade of the Lachin Corridor, as well as the ongoing peace process with Azerbaijan, existing challenges and ways to solve them were discussed. The Armenian parliamentarians emphasized that Armenia is committed to the peace agenda, the aim of which is the establishment of stable and long-term peace in the region. The partners of the House of Representatives reaffirmed their readiness to further support the Republic of Armenia in various formats.
