The aim of the initiative is the necessity to solve the problems that require urgent solutions in the fields of state control of food safety and plant sanitation as soon as possible. The NA Standing Committee on Territorial Administration, Local Self-Government, Agriculture and Environment Protection debated the legislative package on Making Addenda to the Law on State Control of Food Safety and on Making Addenda to the Law on Plant Sanitation at the sitting convened on June 7 in the first reading.
The RA Deputy Minister of Economy Ashkhen Shirvanyan explained that the problem concerns the import of pesticides and agrochemicals. The thing is that by the order of the Head of the Food Safety Inspection Body, a change was made in the list of pesticides registered in the republic, by which two requirements were added - regarding the producing country and the company, as a result of which problems arose in the import of pesticides and agrochemicals. The proposed amendments are intended to regulate the issue of importing these materials.
The Committee endorsed the legislative initiative.
