On November 12, the Head of the RA NA Armenia-Iraq Friendship Group Rustam Bakoyan met with the Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq Ali Abdulkarem Utawi.

Rustam Bakoyan noted that the position of the Speaker of the Council of Representatives of the Republic of Iraq was vacant for about one year. After the elections held on October 31 the Council of Representatives has a Speaker. Congratulating the people of Iraq on this occasion, Rustam Bakoyan noted that there are new opportunities for parliamentary cooperation, development and strengthening between the two countries. He expressed conviction that the Charge d’Affaires with his authority and experience will promote the deepening of the parliamentary diplomacy between the two countries.

It was noted that the two countries have wide opportunities of cooperation and great potential and especially there is unrealized great potential in the economic and trade turnover sphere.

A number of issues regarding the bilateral relations were discussed at the meeting. Reference was made to the regional security and stability.
