The main emphasis of the discussion between the governments of the two countries was on cooperation in renewable energy, energy efficiency, vocational technical education, improvement of water infrastructure, territorial governance reforms, technological sector, and within this framework, the provision of technical and financial assistance to Armenia by the Federal Republic of Germany: The RA Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan said, presenting the draft law on Ratifying the Agreement on Financial Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany.
According to him, the Republic of Armenia will be provided with a grant and a loan of 84.6 million euros, a loan of 69 million euros under one agreement, of which 66 million euros is a loan and 3 million euros is a grant. Grants of 15.6 million euros will be provided through the GIZ under a technical agreement.
As Gevorg Papoyan informed, the loan will be provided in two stages: the first stage will be a loan of 26 million euros and a grant of 2 million euros, and the second stage will be a loan of 40 million euros and a grant of 1 million euros. The money will be directed to the implementation of the Development of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency programme.
The issue was debated at the sitting of the Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs on October 13, The Committee endorsed the draft law. It was proposed to include it in the draft agenda of the NA upcoming sittings.
