The adoption of the legislative package debated in the Standing Committee on Labor and Social Affairs is conditioned by the implementation of the decision of the Constitutional Court. Based on the application of the Human Rights Defender, the Constitutional Court examined the current regulation in the field and considered it unconstitutional. This concerns to the absolute ban on employees of the RA Armed Forces, Police, National Security, Prosecutor’s Office bodies, as well as judges and Constitutional Court judges, from becoming members of a trade union. It is proposed to lift this ban.
The RA Deputy Minister of Labor of Labor and Social Affairs presented for debate the amendments being proposed to the laws on Trade Unions and on Military Service and on the Status of Serviceman.
The deputy Zaruhi Batoyan emphasized the draft and noted that the Government and the Standing Committee on Labor and Social Affairs are actively working towards labor rights reforms. The debates organized in the Committee are also aimed at this.
The legislative package under debate was endorsed by the Committee.
At the end of the sitting the Committee Chair Heriknaz Tigranyan congratulated the social workers on the occasion of their professional holiday.
