Your visit to Armenia is historical, and you are in a historical period in our country. After over 30 years of conflict, hope for regional cooperation has been awakened, which is also important for our friendly countries. As a result of the opening of borders and roads between the countries of our region, great opportunities are being created to attract investments: The Chair of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, the Head of the Armenia-Saudi Arabia Friendship Group Sargis Khandanyan said, welcoming the delegation led by the Head of the Saudi Arabia-Armenia Friendship Group of the Shura Council of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Ali Muhammad Alshahrani.
The meeting took place on November 6, in which the members of Friendship Group, the deputies of the RA NA Civil Contract Faction Hasmik Hakobyan, Tatevik Gasparyan, Armen Khachatryan, Babken Tunyan, Edward Aghajanyan and the deputy of the RA NA Armenia Faction also participated.
“In the next few days, it will be two years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between our two states, and I believe that the two countries have great potential to develop relations in various fields,” Sargis Khandanyan said, thanking Ali Muhammad Alshahrani for the initiative to form parliamentary friendship group.
Ali Muhammad Alshahrani noted that they highlight the development of relations with Armenia. He expressed conviction that this visit will be of practical significance for the newly emerging relations and will serve as a basis for inter-parliamentary cooperation and the implementation of further initiatives.
Regarding the joint declaration signed between the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan on August 8, 2025 in Washington with the participation of the U.S. President, Sargis Khandanyan noted that Armenia is committed to the peace strategy and will consistently continue to implement the peace agenda through constructive dialogue. Ali Muhammad Alshahrani welcomed the efforts aimed at establishing peace, emphasizing the importance of resolving the still unresolved issues between Armenia and Azerbaijan through dialogue.
The members of the Friendship Group underscored the necessity of developing cooperation with Saudi Arabia in all fields.
Ideas were exchanged on the development of cooperation in the fields of tourism, energy, high technologies, steps aimed at promoting mutual trade, investments, and educational programmes.
