On April 16-18 the RA NA delegation led by the NA Deputy Speaker Hermine Naghdalyan took part in the plenary sessions of the IPA CIS Council and the commissions, as well as in the sessions of the CSTO PA Council and the commisions.

On April 17 the international forum Eurasian Economic Perspective moderated by the Speaker of the RF State Duma Sergey Narishkin was held, where the NA Deputy Speaker Hermine Naghdalyan delivered a speech. She has noted that the discussions in such format can be an important platform for the elaboration of the further steps of deepening the integration processes. Mrs Naghdalyan also has noted that the forum has its specific role in formation of constructive dialogue among the authorities, business sector and experts.

On the same day the sessions of the IPA CIS Permanent Commissions on Political Affairs and International Cooperation and the CSTO PA Council were held. At the session of the CSTO PA Council by the proposal of the Armenian side the statement of the CSTO PA Council on the aggravation of the situation in the north-western Syria was included in the agenda, which was adopted. At the session of the Council a series of important issues were also discussed, the results of the CSTO PA winter session were summed up and all the issues included in the agenda were adopted. Let us note that at the next session of the CSTO Council the draft statement on the situation of the South Caucasus in the adjacent zones under the responsibility of the CSTO submitted by the Armenian side will be discussed. At the end of the session the Armenian side proposed to hold the next session of the CSTO PA Council in Yerevan in November of 2014.

After the end of the Council session a press conference was held with the participation of the NA Deputy Speaker Hermine Naghdalyan, deputy Khosrov Harutyunyan and the RA NA representative to the IPA CIS Hayk Chilingaryan.

The Armenian delegation answered the journalists’ questions, which mainly related to Armenia’s decision of joining the Customs Union (CU).

On the same day the session of the IPA CIS Committee on Defense and Security was also held, where the NA deputy Rubik Hakobyan took part.

In the afternoon the session of the IPA CIS Council led by the Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council Valentina Matvienko was held, during which the programme of events dedicated to the 70^th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War, issues concerning the unification of the legislative field within the IPA CIS framework, as well as the cultural sphere were discussed.

Let us note that at the beginning of the session Hermine Natghdalyan conveyed Hovik Abrahamyan’s gratitude to Mrs Matvienko and her counterparts for effective cooperation.

During the session Mrs Naghdalyan proposed the attendees to make an amendment in the document on the situation of the IPA CIS Secretariat, which Mrs Matvienko welcomed.

On April 18 the 40^th plenary session of the IPA CIS was also held.

In the Saint Petersburg a number of events of the Young Parliamentarians Assembly were also held. On April 17 the 3^rd session of the Young Parliamentarians Assembly was held, and one of the important issues of which was the passing of the presidency to Armenia. Let us note that the NA deputy Arpine Hovhannisyan is the coordinator of Armenia in the Young Parliamentarians Assembly.
