On September 13 the RA NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan received delegation led by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Viktor Guminsky.

The RA Speaker welcomed the guests in the National Assembly and noted that the visit of the Belarus delegation once again underscored the friendly relations of the two countries and the readiness of strengthening of multilateral cooperation between Armenia and Belarus. Galust Sahakyan noted with satisfaction that the traditional friendly relations of the two peoples had their unique history, and in 2014 also steps had been taken in further development of cooperation with the Republic of Belarus.

The RA NA Speaker highlighted the cooperation of Armenia and Belarus in the international arena, noting that the parliamentary delegations of the two countries successfully cooperate in the CIS and the CSTO Inter-Parliamentary Assembles and Inter-Parliamentary Union. The Armenian MPs consistently support the position of Belarus in the international platforms.

The Head of the parliament noted with satisfaction that the parliamentary format is one of the important components of bilateral relations, the main platform of which is the Inter-Parliamentary Committee.

The RA NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan invited the Belarus counterparts to take part in the events dedicated to the centenary of the Armenian Genocide to be held in April 2015. In the RA NA Speaker’s opinion, the only way of preventing similar crimes is its recognition and condemnation by the international community.

The RA NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan expressed hope that recommendations voiced during the sitting and the adopted decisions will contribute to the more deepening of bilateral relations.

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Viktor Guminsky thanked for the warm reception.

Viktor Guminsky noted that the history and destiny of the two fraternal peoples have many commonalities. Today the two countries strive for more deepening the relations, and work for their peoples’ welfare. He noted that the relations had shaped in a right way, and both the Armenian and Belarus delegations support each other.

Touching upon the regional problems, Viktor Guminsky also noted that the conflicts should be solved in a peaceful manner. Talking about the crimes perpetrated against humanity, he mentioned that the next day the delegation would visit Tsitsernakaberd to pay tribute to the memory of the Armenian Genocide victims.

Viktor Guminsky invited the RA NA Speaker to Belarus, and the invitation was gladly accepted by the RA NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan.
