Meeting at the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations

On January 27 the Chairman of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Artak Zakaryan received Reiner Morell, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Armenia.

Welcoming the guest, Artak Zakaryan highly assessed the Ambassador’s work in developing the Armenian-German cooperation. He highlighted Mr Morell’s efforts in the advancement of the parliamentary ties and the active cooperation with the Committee on Foreign Relations.

Touching upon the events of the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide, Artak Zakaryan expressed hope that the leadership of Bundestag and the deputies also during those days will be next to the Armenian people and will take part in the commemoration events in April. The Chairman of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations has noted that the condemnation of genocides is an important step for their prevention, for not letting grave crimes against mankind.

Thanking for the reception Ambassador Reiner Morell expressed readiness to promote the further deepening of the Armenian-German parliamentary relations.

The interlocutors also discussed the processes going on in the region and a number of issues of bilateral interests. Artak Zakaryan critically touched upon the the Turkish side's cynical and thwarting manifestations rich in intent, regarding the 100th anniversary celebration of Gallipoli and official actions. According to him, they are the next sub-texts of denial and obvious anti-Armenian campaign which distinguish by their simplicity. Mr Zakaryan has expressed hope that it will not become a new provocation being woven on the way of struggle for the condemnation and prevention of genocides.
