The NA President’s message reads: “Dear compatriots, I congratulate you on Republic Day!

Always having the dream of statehood in our consciousness, we had little opportunities of having a state. More than 95 years ago realizing one of them, we declared the First Republic of Armenia.

Only counted years had passed from the Armenian Genocide, and the victories in Sardarapat, Bash Aparan, Gharakilisa had been the first united mighty answers to the crime of genocide and its authors, and the creation of the Armenian independent state was the evidence of the fact that even from the most tragic blow our people’s spirit and viability neither reduces nor multiplies.

In the year of the Genocide Centennial the victories of 28 May 1918, and as a result of it, the declaration of the First Republic of Armenia become more symbolic. During our history we have often forged victories in the obliged battle, stemming from the dictate of self-preservation. At the beginning of the 20^th century in Sardarapat we won in a survival battle, with joint strength and dignity. At the end of the 20^th century in Artsakh fight for freedom we again won with all-national efforts and devotion.

The generations who have forged victories and who are seeking victories live as one united nation who won victories and keep their memory bright with the firm vision of future.

Once again congratulating you on Republic Day, I wish all of us peace, welfare, optimism and new victories.”
