Parliament Continues Work of Four-day Sittings
1 / 11

On February 8, the RA National Assembly continued the work of the four-day sittings, by voting passing the bills debated on the previous day. The MPs welcomed the students and lecturers of Yerevan State Humanitarian-Technical College, who visited the parliament within the framework of the NA Open Doors programme and were observing the work of the sitting.

Before passing to the legislative work, the NA deputies touched upon the fact of extradition of the blogger Alexander Lapshin to Azerbaijan by the Republic of Belarus on the previous day and voiced their concerns on this occasion. Different recommendations and opinions were sounded: the deputies assessed what happened as rough violation of international norms and human fundamental rights.

Let us remind that the blogger Alexander Lapshin was included in Azerbaijan’s so-called “black list” for visiting Artsakh.

The parliament continued debating Paris Agreement submitted by the RA President and signed on December 12, 2015.

The member of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Naira Karapetyan presented the endorsement on the Agreement.

Afterwards the NA deputies debated a number of international agreements, which submitted the RA First Deputy Minister of Nature Protection Simon Papyan, the RA Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations Haykaram Mkhitaryan, the RA Deputy Minister of Justice Suren Krmoyan, the Deputy Chairman of the State Revenue Committee adjunct to Government Vakhtang Mirumyan, the RA Deputy Minister of Defense Ara Nazaryan. All the agreements were endorsed by the relevant Committees.

The MPs also debated in the first reading the draft law on Amending the RA law on Approving the Code of the Garrison and Guard Services of the RA Armed Forces submitted by the RA Deputy Minister of Defense Ara Nazaryan.

The legislative initiative authored by the Government on Amending the RA law on Approving the Code of the Inner Service of the RA Armed Forces was also debated in the first reading.

The RA NA Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs submitted the endorsement on the bills.

The draft law on Amending the RA Civil Code authored by the NA deputies Artak Sargsyan, Artur Stepanyan and Vahram Mkrtchyan was debated in the second reading.

According to the established order of the NA Rules of Procedure, at the last sitting the members of the RA Government answered the deputies’ questions.
