On March 26, in Tavrichesky Palace of Saint Petersburg the RA NA Deputy Speaker, the Head of the RA NA Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO PA) Eduard Sharmazanov met with the Speaker of the RF FA State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin.

In the course of the meeting the sides highlighted the development of the Armenian-Russian allied relations, the deepening of inter-parliamentary cooperation and the coordinated work of the parliamentary delegations on international platforms.

The NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov noted particularly: “This year on April 3, we mark the 25^th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Armenia and Russia. During these years numerous successes were registered in bilateral relations, where the cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries also has special role.”

During the meeting the sides also touched upon the regional problems. As Head of the Armenian Delegation to CSTO PA, Eduard Sharmazanov underlined: “We find that all conflicts should be settled exclusively through peaceful means and in that respect we positively assess the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship, including Russia, in the direction of the NK conflict peaceful settlement. At the same time we consider condemnable Azerbaijan’s deconstructive actions, which contradict both 3 well-known principles and the spirit of the statements by the Chairs of the CSTO member countries on October 14, 2016. Such deconstructive policy should not remain without response by the CSTO PA deputies.”

The parties also talked about the perspectives of the expansion of cooperation within EEU format.

In his turn Vyacheslav Volodin emphasized the development of the allied relations of the two countries and peoples and in that context underscored the closer contacts of the Armenian and Russian parliamentarians. Mr Volodin expressed conviction that the deputies of the CSTO PA countries and the Armenian and Russian parliamentarians as allies, should support each other in the international structures.

The sides also referred to other issues of bilateral interest.
