On April 1, the RA NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov received the members of the IPA CIS International Observation Mission headed by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Boleslav Pirshtuk. The RA NA Permanent Representative to IPA CIS Hayk Chilingaryan also attended the meeting.

Welcoming the guests, Eduard Sharamanzov highlighted the key role of the IPA CIS in further development and rapprochement of the relations between the CIS member states and nations. Mr Sharmazanov highly assessed the IPA CIS Observation Mission in terms of the accurate and unbiased evaluation of the parliamentary elections to be held in our country.

The NA Deputy Speaker presented to the guests the peculiarities of the new Electoral Code and the possibilities created for holding open and transparent elections, stating that the document had been adopted by the National Assembly in the conditions of full mutual consent between the opposition and the power.

“The new Electoral Code is more democratic and corresponds with the international standards. All conditions are created for holding transparent and democratic elections. The voters should be convinced that their voice will be crucial and won’t be lost.”

Eduard Sharmazanov congratulated the members of the Delegation on the occasion of the 25^th anniversary of the IPA CIS formation and wished the observers effective work in the upcoming elections.

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Boleslav Pirshtuk underlined that their experts assessed the work done and the amended Constitution positive and efficient.

“You have put before you a goal to adopt transparent document, and you succeeded, which you will apply in practice on April 2. I am sure that everything will be organized at high level.” Mr Pirshtuk noted.

At the guests’ request the NA Deputy Speaker presented details on the implementation of the pre-election campaign, documenting that equal conditions were created for all political forces.
