On April 19, the Yezidi community celebrates the New Year – Tawûsê Melek. The first day of the New Year is considered the first Wednesday from April 13. Let us note that according to tradition, first the Yezidis visit their deceased relatives.

On the occasion of the holiday the RA NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov accompanied by the deputies Gagik Melikyan and Karen Botoyan met with the representatives of the Yezidi community of Armenia.

Congratulating the Yezidi people on the occasion of the New Year, the RA NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov has underlined that the RA authorities highlight the full integration of the national minorities in the public-political processes of our country. Mr Sharmazanov has noted that the friendship of the Armenian and Yezidi peoples has a history of centuries and added that the Yezidi have always been next to the Armenian people in the crucial moments in different times: its vivid evidence was the April four-day war.

“Let this New Year be a year of peace, welfare and happiness for the Yezidis,” the RA NA Deputy Speaker noted congratulating them once again on the occasion of the holiday.

The Chairman of the Yezidis’ National Union Aziz Tamoyan has underlined with gratitude the fact that the Yezidis’ rights are fully protected in Armenia, and all conditions are created for the implementation of cultural, educational and social activities.
