Galust Sahakyan Receives Newly Appointed Ambassador of Peru

On May 12, the RA NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Peru to the RA Luis Benjamin Chimoy Arteaga.

Welcoming the Ambassador in the parliament, the Speaker of the National Assembly congratulated him on the occasion of being appointed Ambassador in Armenia and wished him success in the implementation of the programmes being designed during his mission.

Highlighting the establishment of close cooperation with Latin American countries, Galust Sahakyan underlined the importance of the development of the Armenian-Peruvian relations at inter-state and inter-parliamentary levels.

The NA Speaker expressed his condolence to the Peruvian people on the disastrous flood occurred recently.

Touching upon the development of the inter-parliamentary relations, the head of the parliament emphasized the significant contribution of the Friendship Groups in that matter and expressed hope that Friendship Groups will be formed in the parliaments of the two countries in future.

Galust Sahakyan expressed his satisfaction with the unanimous adoption of the Resolution on recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide by the Andean Parliament, the member of which is also Peru.

Luis Benjamin Chimoy Arteaga has thanked the NA Speaker for the reception and noted that during his tenure he will make all possible efforts for the rapprochement of the relations between the two countries.

In his word the Ambassador has noted that Peru and Armenia are stable democratic countries, where the parliaments have a great role. Referring to the common system of values of the two peoples, Mr Arteaga has stated that it seems to be Peru and Armenia are considered to be cradle of civlisation, and irrespective of big distance, will use the existing potential for making closer the relations and developing the cooperation. The newly appointed Ambassador has noted that Peru is also interested in the possible cooperation with Armenia within the EEC.
