On August 24, the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow being in Armenia on an official visit, visited the RA National Assembly and met with the RA NA Speaker Ara Babloyan.

Welcoming the high ranking guest in the RA National Assembly, Ara Babloyan underlined the importance of this visit especially on the eve of the 25^th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Turkmenistan. The RA NA Speaker expressed confidence that the official visit of Turkmenistan’s President will boost the Armenian-Turkmen relations in all spheres.

Highlighting the role of the inter-parliamentary contacts in the development of bilateral relations, Ara Babloyan touched upon the cooperation existing between the Friendship Groups functioning in the parliaments of Armenia and Turkmenistan and further activation of the ties.

The RA NA Speaker has noted that Armenia has repeatedly supported the initiatives of friendly Turkmenistan and expects balanced attitude over the issues of principle for itself.

Ara Babloyan invited the Speaker of Turkmenistan’s Parliament to Armenia for the rapprochement of the Armenian-Turkish inter-parliamentary relations.

Touching upon the development of the multilateral ties between the two countries, the RA NA Speaker has noted that the opportunities of cooperation are big in the spheres of trade-economy, tourism, culture, education and health care.

The President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow highly assessed the current level of the relations with Armenia and highlighted the development of the inter-parliamentary ties between the two countries.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow has underlined the necessity of the activation of cooperation in different spheres and documented that in future Turkmenistan and Armenia envisage joint implementation of wide-scale programmes.

The President of Turkmenistan conveyed the greetings of the Head of the parliament of his country to the RA NA Speaker and the invitation to visit Turkmenistan.

At the end of the meeting Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow left a note in the Commemoration Book of Honourable Guests of the RA National Assembly.
