RA NA Speaker Ara Babloyan Meets with Prime Minister of Georgia

On September 26, the delegation led by the RA NA Speaker Ara Babloyan being in Georgia on an official visit met with the Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili. In the course of the meeting the sides particularly talked about the development of the economic relations of the two countries. In his word, the RA NA Speaker said: “Armenia and Georgia have chosen different ways of integration, however it will not be an obstacle for the development of cooperation of our countries: it can have a positive influence not only on further deepening of economic relations, but also for more expanding the regional cooperation.”

Ara Babloyan has also noted that during recent years distinct directions of economic partnership have been formed between Armenia and Georgia, which particularly include the spheres of transport, energy, tourism, and reprocessing of agricultural goods. The Head of the RA Parliament has underlined the importance of deepening of decentralised cooperation. As a good example of cooperation of the countries’ regions Ara Babloyan mentioned the relations between Ajaria and Lori Marz. Nevertheless, the Head of the RA Parliament has registered that the trade-economic potential is not completely used. Ara Babloyan has assured that the parliamentarians are ready to make legislative necessary initiatives for solving the problems of concrete spheres. The Head of the Parliament has highlighted the unfailing activities of Upper Lars border checkpoint, which especially during this period is the main and more preferable road of agricultural goods’ exporting from Armenia.

The Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili talked with satisfaction about the Georgian-Armenian steadily developing relations, at the same time noting that it is necessary to increase the existing volumes of trade turnover of 400mln USD. In his word, the Prime Minister of Georgia underlined the importance of mutual visits of high level. Giorgi Kvirikashvili especially distinguished the tourism as one of the more important spheres for the development of bilateral cooperation. According to him, taking into consideration the rich historical heritage of the two countries, it is necessary to prepare joint tourist packages. At the same time the Prime Minister has assured that Georgia is open to discuss the opportunities of development of cooperation in any sphere.
