Meeting in Parliament
1 / 3

On October 11, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Health Care and Social Affairs Hakob Hakobyan and the Committee members met with Egor Zaitsev, Head of the World Health Organization (WHO) Armenia Office.

In the course of the meeting the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Health Care and Social Affairs Hakob Hakobyan presented his concerns over the studies made in Armenia by the WHO.

Egor Zaitsev has noted that WHO observes the health care systems of all WHO countries from two viewpoints: goals and functions, and the organization can propose its approaches for the reforms being made in every country to improve the situation.

According to the Head of the Armenia Office, last year studies were made on the following diseases in the urban and rural settlements: cardiac-vascular, respiratory, oncology and diabetics. A report was made which would be presented to the public by the end of the year. Underlining the possibility of the situation improvement, WHO advises to work in prevention of cardiac-vascular and diabetic diseases.

The organization makes similar surveys once in 4-5 years in about 180 countries of the world, and as a result of studies, the WHO cooperation programs with the given country are made based on the reports.

Egor Zaitsev presented the upcoming programs and priorities of WHO Armenia Office: relating to the fighting against Hepatitis, tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS.

The Head of the Armenia Office also touched upon the vaccinations, fighting against pandemic flu and programs.

At the end of the meeting Egor Zaitsev and the representatives of Armenia Office answered the questions of Hakob Hakobyan and the Committee members.
