Ara Babloyan Meets with Marshal of Polish Senate
1 / 5

On October 18, the delegation led by the RA NA President Ara Babloyan met with the Marshal of the Senate of the Republic of Poland Stanisław Karczewski.

Thanking his colleague for the warm reception, Ara Babloyan expressed hope that the visit of the Armenian Parliamentary Delegation would give a new impetus to the Armenian-Polish inter-parliamentary ties and the two peoples’ friendship. The RA NA President has underlined that the year 2017 is special in the Armenian-Polish inter-state relations, as this sees the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, as well as the 650th anniversary of the formation of Poland’s Armenian community.

Ara Babloyan expressed satisfaction to Stanisław Karczewski for supporting the organisation of the conference dedicated to the history of Poland’s Armenian community in the Senate on September 19 and delivering a speech, as well as for opening an exhibition dedicated to the history of the Polish-Armenian community.

In Ara Babloyan’s word, the Armenian and Polish peoples’ centuries-old friendship is in the source of the two countries’ relations, which is a good basis for further strengthening of the ties between Armenia and Poland.

“High level of political dialogue is established between our states, there are necessary preconditions for the expansion of the inter-state relations,” the RA NA President said.

In this aspect the Head of the RA legislative body greatly highlighted the development of the relations between the two countries’ parliaments, expressing hope that in the future in the inter-parliamentary cooperation format the relations existing between Armenia and Poland would become closer. In this context the Head of the RA Parliament underlined the necessity of the mutual visits and further activation of the contacts between the Friendship Groups, as well as the development of the parliamentary delegations’ constructive cooperation in the frameworks of the international Parliamentary Assemblies.

Touching upon the role of the Armenian community in Poland, Ara Babloyan has noted that it is an important bridge in the Armenian-Polish relations. The Head of Armenia’s legislative body remembered with satisfaction that still in 2005 the Sejm of Poland adopted a Resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide.

Talking about the Nagorno Karabakh problem, the RA NA President has noted that Armenia sees no alternative for the peaceful settlement of the conflict, and unlike Azerbaijan, does not want at all that the region once more appears in the war nightmare. “In April of the last year, during the four-day war unleashed by Azerbaijan the atrocities committed by the Azerbaijani side showed the attitude of the leadership of that country towards human life. The Armenophobia in Azerbaijan is the main part of the state policy. In the created conditions the execution of the right of the NK people’s self-determination is not only the mere aspiration of the Artsakh people, but also the only key of the fair solution of the problem. It can be solved only through one of the human fundamental and alienable rights through the people’s free self-determination. Azerbaijan has no legal, no political and moral bases of pretentions towards Nagorno Karabakh,” Ara Babloyan said.

Thanking warmly the RA NA President for his visit, the Marshal of the Senate of the Republic of Poland Stanisław Karczewski has noted that Poland continues remaining a good friend being the Ambassador of Armenia in Europe.

He expressed his gratitude to Ara Babloyan for the support of the Republic of Armenia in being elected the UN Security Council Member.

During the talk the sides referred to the possible development of cooperation in the economic, cultural, scientific-educational and other spheres.

The RA NA President Ara Babloyan invited Stanisław Karczewski to Armenia on an official visit.

The delegation led by the RA NA President also took part in the sitting of the Senate of the Republic of Poland.
