On December 18, the RA NA President Ara Babloyan received the NATO Deputy Secretary General Rose Gottemoeller.

Welcoming the guest in the RA National Assembly the Head of the parliament highly assessed the 25-year cooperation of the RA with NATO which recorded positive developments.

The RA NA President touched upon the Armenian peacekeepers’ mission during recent years, highlighting the participation of Armenia for preserving peace in different parts of the world.

Talking about the ratification of the Agreement on Cooperation Support between the Republic of Armenia and NATO Procurement and Supply Organization, Ara Babloyan has noted that it is the basis of the operation of the Trust Foundation.

The Head of the parliament referred to the reforms going on in Armenia: the transition to the system of the parliamentary government, the strengthening of the parliamentary oversight in the sphere of defense and the legislative amendments concerning the sphere of the armed forces.

The RA NA President has noted that the RA is resolute ensuring the progress of the democratic reforms, developing and strengthening the amendments concerning the protection of human rights and rule of law.

Ara Babloyan has documented that the cooperation with NATO Parliamentary Assembly will be of continuous character for the stability and establishment of security and development of democracy.

Thanking for reception the NATO Deputy Secretary General has noted that it is a great honour to visit the RA National Assembly.

Mrs Gottemoeller welcomed the reforms going on in Armenia, the transition to the system of the parliamentary government and the rise of the oversight function efficiency of the parliament.

Regarding the Agreement on Cooperation Support between the Republic of Armenia and NATO Procurement and Supply Organization ratified by the RA National Assembly, Rose Gottemoeller has highlighted the programs to be implemented by the Trust Foundation with the support of the German Government, which particularly relate to the destruction of the old military technique and the demining of the territories.

The NATO Deputy Secretary General underlined the necessity of the enlivening of the parliamentary format of cooperation.

Mrs Gottemoeller thanked the Armenian side for cooperating with NATO and effectively implementing their peacekeeping mission in different corners of the world.
