On February 6, the RA NA Vice President Arpine Hovhannisyan received the delegation of the Venice Commission. Let us note that the delegation visited Armenia to provide a professional Opinion on the RA Draft Law on Freedom of Conscience and Religious Organizations.

Welcoming the guests, Arpine Hovhannisyan positively assessed the continuous effective cooperation with the Venice Commission. The NA Vice President presented details on a number of provisions of the draft law, noting that the international standards and most of the recommendations of the Venice Commission had been taken into consideration by the authors. Arpine Hovhannisyan has underlined the role of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church in the public life of our country and has noted that the public moods towards this law are sensible. The RA NA Vice President also touched upon the rights and obligations being set out by the mother law of the sphere on the freedom of conscience and faith, as well as the provisions subject to the revision and review of the draft law.
