Vostanik Maroukhyan was born on March 4, 1946 in Yerevan.

Mr. Maroukhyan graduated from the Yerevan Polytechnic Institute in 1969. He is an engineer thermo-energy specialist, professor and has a PhD in Technical Sciences. He is also a current member of Armenia Engineering Academy.

From 1969-1975 he started as an assistant in the Thermal Power Stations Department of the Yerevan Polytechnic Institute. From 1975-1987 he worked as a sen­ior professor. From 1983-1987 he was the Dean's Assistant of the Energy Department of the Yerevan Polytechnic Institute. From 1987-1997 he was a docent of Thermal Energy Department of the Yerevan Polytechnic Institute and from 1987-1990 he was the dean. From 1990-1992 he was the head of Education and Methodology Section of Armenia State Engineering University. 1992-1993 he was appointed Education and Methodology Deputy Rector. From 1993-1999 he was the deputy head of Education and Methodology Section. In 1999 he was appointed deputy minister of Science and Education. From 1999-2003 he was the education and methodology deputy rector of the Armenia State Engineering University. Currently he heads the Environmental Protection Engineering Chair on a voluntary basis.

On May 25, 2003 he was elected to the NA from the proportional list of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation and he is currently on the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs. He is a member of both the Armenia Revolutionary Federation Faction and party.

Mr. Maroukhyan is married and has two children.
