Andranik Kocharyan


Born May 3, 1961 in Yerevan.

1983 - Graduated from the Department of Automated Management Systems of the Faculty of Cybernetics of the Yerevan State Polytechnic Institute. Engineer.

2000 - Graduated from the Law Faculty of the Yerevan State University. Lawyer.

1983 -1990 - Engineer at the Yerevan Scientific Research Institute of Mathematical Machines.

1990 - 1991 - First Deputy to the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia.

1991-1995 - First Deputy to the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia.

1994 -1996 - Extraordinary Plenipotentiary Representative in the disaster area of the Government.

1999 - 2000 - Advisor to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia on issues of defense, national security, internal and human resources policy affairs.

2000 - 2005 - Independent expert on national security and defense of the NGO “Society against Terrorism.”

2008 - 2009 - Member, expert of the group for collecting facts, studying the events that took place in Yerevan on March 1, 2008.

Since 2012 - Chairman of the NGO “Armenian Center for Democracy, Security and Development.”

1995-1999 - MP of the National Assembly. Member of the faction “Republic” of the National Assembly. Non-partisan.

2019 - 2021 - Member of the National Assembly (national electoral list of the “My Step” alliance of parties). Chairman of the Standing Committee on Defense and Security of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia. Member of the “My Step” faction.

June 20, 2021 - Elected Member of the National Assembly from the national electoral list of the “Civil Contract” party.

Married, with three children.
