Hakob Hakobyan was born on March 13, 1957 in Yerevan.
Mr. Hakobyan graduated from the Armenian Agricultural Academy in 1999. He is an agronomist. He was awarded a First Rank Martakan Khach (War Cross) Order in 1994.
From 1973-1982 he was a worker in the Anoush Industrial Complex in Yerevan. From 1982-1990 he was the administrative deputy of the chief doctor in the Malatia Clinical Hospital. He spent the next five years as manager of the Market of Agricultural Products # 4 and from 1995-1999 he was the director of Bread Factory # 6. He was also the head of the Regional Council of the Yerkrapah Volunteer Union.
1999-2003 was his first term as a deputy in the NA (electoral district # 14) and he was on the NA Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs. He was a member first of the Stability Deputy Group and later, the Armenia Deputy Group.
On May 2003 he was reelected to the NA from electoral district # 11 and he is the Deputy Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs. He is also a member of the “People's Deputy” Deputy Group. He has no political party affiliation.
Mr. Hakobyan is married and has three children.
