He was born on 18 February 1961 in Yerevan.

In 1984 he has graduated from Yerevan Kh. Abovyan State Pedagogical Institute – Faculty of Culture – profession “director of the theatre”.

In 1984-1986 he served at the Soviet Army.

In 1986-1989 he worked at Hayfilm Studio as a director’s assistant.

In 1990 he joined ARF. In 1990 worked at the press and information center of ARF as a journalist, secretary of the office, in 1991-1994 – editor, responsible for political division, deputy of editor at an official paper “Azatamart” of ARF. In 1994-1996 worked at ARF official paper “Droshak” (flag) and other periodicals.

In 1990-2006 he was repeatedly elected as a member of the central committee of Armenia of ARF.

On 12 May 2007 he was elected as a deputy of the National Assembly through proportional electoral system from the ARF party.

He is married and has three children.
