Moushegh Mickaelyan was born on November 7, 1948 in the village of Zovasar in the Talin region.
Mr. Mikaelyan graduated from Yerevan State University in 1969. He is philologist and publicist.
In 1969 he started as a literary associate with Garoun magazine. In 1971 he worked for Avantgarde newspaper first as a head of division, later responsible secretary and then assistant to the general editor. In 1988 he was the responsible secretary of
Khorhrdayin Hayastan newspaper and in 1991 he was the assistant general editor of
Hayastani Hanrapetouyun newspaper. From 1990-1991 he was the editor of Ourbat and Azatamart weeklies and Aspar Varouzhan, Mitk and Zangak monthlies. In 1995 he was the Armenian coordinator of Droshak and in 1998 general editor of Yerkir Daily.
1999-2003 was his first term as a deputy in the NA (from the proportional list of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation) and he was on the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture and Youth Affairs. He was a member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Faction.
On May 25, 2003 he was reelected to the NA from the proportional list of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation. He was on the NA Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs. He was also a member of both the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Faction and party.
Mr. Mikaelyan is married and has one child.
On November 10, 2003 he resigned from office due to his appointment as deputy minister of Education and Science.
