Khachik Harutyunyan was born on February 26, 1959 in Kirovakan.
In 1981 he graduated from the Yerevan Polytechnic Institute with the specialty engineer-builder.
1981-1984 he worked at Vanadzor N 2 Road-construction department as an engineer. 1984-1995 he worked chief engineer at Vanadzor Public Catering, head of the technical division, chief engineer and deputy director. 1995-2000 he was the first deputy general director at Trade and Services SCJSC of Lori marz. 2000-2001 he worked at Dsegh TimberIndustry CJSC of ArmForest SCJSC, as a director.
On April 23 2008 he was elected deputy to the National Assembly by the proportional list of the Country of Law Party. He is a member of the Country Law Party, member of the political board of the party.
On June 17, 2008 he was elected as Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Agriculture and Environment.
He is married and he has two children.
